Joseph Murumbi Zuzarte was a Goan-Maasai who was educated mostly in India.
He joined the independence movement in Kenya, a friend of Pio Pinto and
Fitz de Souza.  He was appointed the Vice President of Kenya after Oginga
Odinga resigned after a dispute with the president  Jomo Kenyatta. He
resigned after six months for personal reasons and dedicated the rest of
his life collecting and exhibiting African art and literature.

He and his wife are buried in the Nairobi City Patk, close to the grave of
Pio Pinto.
