I, most forcefully deplore the horrendous dastardly attack on my friend, Aires
Rodrigues and
his co-activist Prajal Sakhardande.
This creates a chilling de jávù effect: the equally brutal waylaying and
beating up of another
courageous friend, Rajan Narayan.
If Goa and Goans cannot or will not set up a democratic agenda of our own but
have to grop to
pattern it on some other emerging post-colonial territory why so blindly seek
to emmulate Papa
(& Baba) Doc's Haiti, Totom Macoutes et all?
There, surely, are many other more edifying wxamples around we could seek
guidance from!
Since Joel and Clinton so promptly informed me about the heinous deed a couple
of hours after
its perpetration I could'nt sleep through the night recalling the ferocious
Maharashtrian goondas,
that were imported by Dayanand Bandodkar during Opinion Poll, and mercilessly
let loose upon
our activists with much painful damage to blood and limb.
We had dared to think those were bygone times not to be revisited after
statehood and much
babbling about national integration.
