Thanks Bryan,

now at 11.18 UT on Sept 16 noted SIBC in 60 meterband outlet on

5020 kHz nearly even frequency, but minus 1 Hertz on lower side,
as observed in past weeks already.

Reception taken on remote Perseus SDR unit at Brisbane Australia.

** ALBANIA. 9854.95, Sept 16 at 0151, R. Tirana is mostly humroar, but some
music detectable under it. At 0157 I notice some crackle circa 9827, suspect
it`s out of same transmitter, and it goes off at 0158 just about when 9854.95
does (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BANGLADESH. 15505, Sept 16 at 1359, Bangladesh Betar is very weak, but can
hear the IS, and the 5+1 mis-timesignal ending at 1359:52, Urdu service opening
theme. If timesignal hits 1400:00 it will only be a coincidence as in past it
could be several seconds either side (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EGYPT. 9320-9330, Sept 16 at 0207, big S8 blob of R. Cairo peaking at 9325
with peaks sounding like talk modulation, but totally incomprehensible. This is
obviously coming out of the main blob 9310-9320, peaking at 9315, same S8 but
lacking any talkish sounds, just the roar where English to North America is
scheduled (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** INDONESIA. 9525.895, Sept 16 at 1305, VOI is S5-S8 and can tell there`s some
talk, in presumed English, yet readability is still R=0, and there seems to be
some pulsating hum along with the modulation (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** INDONESIA. 11405, 11410, 11425, 11435, 11440, Sept 16 at 1318, all USB,
presumed QSO pirates from here. 11435 is best, 11440 has a pileup, and 11425
includes some singing. Ironically, these can come in better than VOI on 9526-v
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** IRAN. 9550, Sept 16 at 0201, YL & YL with news in Spanish, mostly about the
Islamic Republic of Iran, implying it is really VIRI as scheduled 0020-0320 via
Sirjan to South America. Surprised they would be doing news at the top of real
hours rather than the top of askew Iranian hours. S9-S7 fading and
undermodulated. // 12025 is but a JBA carrier (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 1300, Sept 16 at 0220, 8 y 19 minutos timecheck, from ``Radio
Mexicana, la m?sica ---``. XEP, Ju?rez as usual dominant signal at night, but
plenty QRM too. Impossible to believe it`s 200 watts at night rather than
38,000 watts day power (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** RUSSIA. 5900, Sept 16 at 1252, JBA carrier, presumed R. Rossii, Vladivostok;
the other reactivated Russian SW station, R. Sakha, 7295, Sept 16 at 1252, JBA
carrier is even weaker (or could be an ham); not a good propagation day for
them (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY [and non]. 9465, Sept 16 at 0205, Qur`an at S4. Only thing scheduled
is TRT in Uyghur this hour, but Voice of Turkey is not known for Qur`aning,
being a secular state/station, altho the Islamists seem to be in ascendancy.
During long pauses, sounds like an understation talking, at first thought maybe
Iran Spanish // 9550 which I had just heard? But too weak to tell. Instead, the
understation could be Turkey and the overstation something new and unknown
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U K [non]. 5810, Sept 16 at 1249, S6-S8 poor signal, talk with accent but
seems English. See UNID log of yesterday. On theory that it is BBCWS, I check
6195 which is certainly BBCWS via Singapore --- or as HFCC still labels it,
`Kranji (Merlin)`! And it matches, furthermore, just about synchronized, but
5810 could still be a different site, such as Nakhon Sawan, Thailand. The
current HFCC page for BBCWS still does not show any entry for 5810! What do
they know?
http://hfcc.org/data/schedbybrc.php?seas=A16&broadc=BBC
So it`s on 5810 for at least two days in a row, rather than jumping around
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1843 monitoring: confirmed Thursday Sept 15
at 2100 on WRMI 13695, excellent; also confirmed Thu Sept 15 at 2330 on WBCQ
9330.040v-CUSB, fair S9. Next:
Fri 2130.5 WRMI 13695 to NW
Fri 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW

Sat 0700 Unique Radio NSW 3210 ND
Sat 1400 Unique Radio NSW 3210 ND
Sat 1430 HLR 7265-CUSB to SW
Sat 1930v WA0RCR 1860-AM ND
Sat 2230 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Sun 0310v WA0RCR 1860-AM ND
Sun 0830 Unique Radio NSW 3210 ND
Sun 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Mon 0030 WRMI 7730 to WNW
Mon 0300v WBCQ 5130v Area 51 to WSW
Mon 0330 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Mon 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Tue 1100 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Tue 2130 WRMI 15770 to NE
Tue 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Wed 1315.5 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Wed 2100 WBCQ 7490v to WSW
Wed 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7504.995, Sept 16 at 0154, WRNO is on tonight with gospel music,
S9+30 but considerably undermodulated. Probably a fluke it`s so close to
7505.000 at the moment (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1170, Sept 16 at 0221 UT, KFAQ Tulsa with talk, and can`t detect any
gospel huxter understation, so seems as if WWVA Wheeling has finally fixed its
night pattern to protect us from it (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9275, Sept 16 at 1300, open carrier at S6, plus some intermittent
non-English, non-Spanish, Asian? language very weak 2-way USB demodulated by
it; still the same at 1320. The only known broadcaster on 9275 anywhen is WMLK,
Pennsylvania, which has been struggling to keep its `new` transmitter
operational, has been off for a few weeks but will presumably come back
eventually; normally operates only in local afternoons altho Aoki shows a
possible span of 1400-2100 (never on Sabbaths! So be sure to check on Friday).
Not as strong as 125 kW should be, but stronger and steadier than one would
expect from E Asia, yet could also pertain to the China radio war, which could
show up anywhere (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

I'd love to know that the beam/azimuth of Zanzibar Broadcasting's 11735khz
signal is. It's listed as 50kw non directional, but solely based upon the
signal I get from it everyday here in Alaska., there's no way it's non
directional.

BUT, a google map trip was taken and the ZBC site found, showing what is
clearly a directional antenna set up.

Also, I'd love to know what the power and beam/azimuth for Radio Guinea
9650khz in Conarky, Guinea is. A friend and I located on googlemaps what we
re pretty sure is their shortwave transmitting site, right in Conarky! The
site looks like 6 towers in an arched backwards C configuration

ZBC's 11735 power is listed but the beam isn't correct. I haven't seen
Radio Guinea's power/pattern/beam details anywhere.

Any ideas? I have my theories on Radio Conarky based on the signal I'm
hearing but I don't want to taint anyone elses ideas.

I spent a couple of days in the Azores earlier this month.

It is an amazing place for transatlantic MW DX. Using 100 meters of wire on
the ground and a simple portable radio a lot of transatlantic stations were
audible at sunrise:

After this fantastic morning I drove a bit inland and made a FM band scan:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-8VyMVPgys

All MW stations in the Azores are inactive - except RTP 'Antena 1', Flores,
on 828 and AFRTS on 1503 kHz. I believe AFRTS is on the air 24 hours a day
but 'Antena 1' is off air at night - probably signing on a 0700 or 0730.

** BOLIVIA. 5952.48, Sept 17 at 0057, JBA carrier, so R. Pio Doce is there,
having been missing for a while (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MADAGASCAR. 17640, Sept 16 at 1818, no signal from MWV/APR. However, I
finally got a report of both this and 9570 Russian service being on air at same
time, Sept 9 at 1830, per Thorsten Hallmann, Germany. But it must still be
quite sporadic.

9600, Sept 17 at 0046, no signal from the `KNLS` English hour via MWV. BTW,
Carl Mann tells me about the DX talks he produced for KNLS years ago, and maybe
appearing sporadically via MWV, in forthcoming DXLD 16-37 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 594, that mystery carrier around here, masquerading as the
megawatt from Kolkata, I am continuing my search for its source. Sept 16 after
19 UT, since it seems to DF from the south rather than the north, I drive to
the south side of Enid, and take Southgate Blvd eastward. I stop every mile to
take a DF on the DX-398 --- at intersexions with Streets 30, 42, 54, 66, 78 ---
and each time I can tell it`s getting closer to N/S from the original NNW/SSE I
had been getting in central and northern Enid. This confirms it is indeed from
the south side. Finally at 1942 UT, past Woodring Airport and Koch Nitrogen,
when I reach 90th Street, it`s just about due south. That`s enough for today;
unfortunately 90 is a dirt road I prefer to avoid, but maybe back when it`s not
too dry and not too wet, or approach it from the other side, and/or get some
more fixes on it from other angles to triangulate. I`m still getting no signals
on 297 or 198 kHz, whence beacons might have been pr
oducing harmonic. 594 so far is perhaps only slightly stronger than I am
getting it further north (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU. 5980, Sept 17 at 0058, JBA carrier from R. Chaski as I wait for its
auto-cutoff, which happens at 0058:28*. First chance I`ve had to compare it to
its latest reset, which was a fortnight ago, Sept 3 until 0058:38*, 10 seconds
later than today, so the expected ~6.5 second recession per noctem has not
occurred! It should have reached 0100:00* by now. Need to check more often to
divine what`s happening (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SRI LANKA. 11905, Sept 17 at 0115:17, 2+1 mis-timesignal ends from SLBC
after pr?lude music, opening Hindi or Bengali, only S2 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** THAILAND. Re my BBC on new 5810, Wolfgang B?schel points out that altho HFCC
doesn`t show it, latest Aoki does as having started Sept 9:
``5810* BBC 1200-1400 1234567 English 250 25 Nakhon Sawan THA a16``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) * means jammed by the ChiCom

** U S A. 7490, Sept 17 at 0004, WBCQ with `Allan Weiner Worldwide`. Politix
right away: Allan thinx Democrats are Communists bent on imposing a New World
Order, and wants to vote for Trump, hoping his girlfriend isn`t listening and
won`t leave him. Says he`s trimulcasting, also on 5130 and 3250. I don`t
measure the 7, but the others at 0038: 3250.005 which is synchro with 7490, and
5129.85 which is half a sesquiminute delayed. 3250 is poor in noise level, but
stronger than before.

Program news from Robert at 0111: New `Mitch & Cathy (sp?) Show`, starts Sept
24, Saturdays 8-9 pm EDT [UT Sundays 00-01], on 7490, taking away one of J.P.`s
three hours of `Shortwave Saturday Night`, unfortunately: maybe will put him on
3250 instead. At 0102 I note that 9330 is off after Blalock, rather than
joining AWWW or playing back a previous one. The `Reverb Madness` show has
stopped, as the producer was not getting any response, was Thursdays 8-9 pm on
7490 [UT Fridays 00-01]. Allan`s benedixion at 0117, and ending at 0123, back
to BS on 7490. Then I check 3250v again and there seem to be two carriers,
around 3250.02 and 3250.75 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9275, Sept 16 at 1818, there it is, WMLK indeed back on the air, poor
signal checked only on the PL-880, but sure sounds like EJOM, deceased.
(Neighbor 9265 WINB is not on air this early: 9265 is still shown on WMLK
webpage as its frequency!) So that explains the unID open carrier I was getting
as early as 1300 today. They have been posting on their Facebook about repair
progress, but now it is inaccessible (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7505v, Sept 17 at 0055, WRNO not only is on tonight, but on earlier
than nominal 0100, gospel huxter at S9+25 but undermodulated. Another check at
0112, g.h. is saying ``we`re in a brand new year, 2,014``; with BFO engaged, I
discover at 0113 it suddenly starting to take off, driftin downward to about
7504.90 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 11521.10-USB, Sept 17 at 0050, weak 2-way colloquial Spanish
INTRUDERS, way too close to 11520-AM WEWN English --- unless they are trying to
hide in its splash, yet able to hear each other (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
