** CUBA. 5025, Feb 15 at 0732, R. Rebelde programming presumed, back
on air at S9+40/45, VG (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2230)

** INTERNATIONAL WATERS [non?]. Re 4251, NJDM: ``Hi Glenn, A useful
url for locating marine traffic:
US Navy Warships Tracker (marinevesseltraffic.com)
https://www.marinevesseltraffic.com/navy-ships

And for the ship in question:
USS Jason Dunham (DDG-109) NATO WARSHIP Current Position ( - DUAL
TRACKING - ) | Marine Vessel Traffic
https://www.marinevesseltraffic.com/vessels/USS-Jason-Dunham-(DDG-109)/CURRENT-POSITION/1/366997034
David Ross`` -- That`s helpful; shouldn`t such info be classified?
Anyhow as of Feb 14, NJDM is right near Jaxonvil FL (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WORLD OF RADIO 2230)

** U S A. 8992 USB, Feb 15 at 1605, ``This is Raindrop`` and fonetix:
TDVUC7 repeated, then alfanumeric ``message follows`` starting with
those same 7. No echo but always background noise. I assume the same
ID is never used more than once?

Feb CIDX Messenger Utility column by Gilles Letourneau informs:
``HF Global Command (HFGCS) 4724, 8992, 11175 and 15016 kHz USB ---
One common use for the HFGCS is to place telephone calls from the
aircraft in flight [...] The HFGCS also carries Emergency Action
Messages (EAMs).

In addition to EAMs, the HFGCS carries a few other types of messages.
A higher priority code for orders is a Skyking Message, which is a
time sensitive message for orders that need immediate attention. Force
Direction Messages (FDM's) are also sent through the HFGCS, although
it is impossible to tell whether the message is an FDM or just another
EAM being read.

Although transmissions are often single sideband (SSB), the use of the
ALE transmission mode is more and more common. HFGCS complements the
use of satellite communications between aircraft and ground stations.

If you hear echo on the frequency you?re listening to, it is due to
the signal often being transmitted over several stations at the same
time.`` I have not happened upon a Skyking Message in many years
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
