Subject: [WOR] R?dio Clube de Ribeir?o Preto em 15415 kHz

R?dio Clube de Ribeir?o Preto, S?o Paulo, Brazil, reactivates its old
transmitter on short waves, at a frequency of 15415 kHz. They did this
because the Brazilian government expanded the law for migrating radio
stations from medium waves to FM, also including concessions in short waves
and tropical waves. This could result in the temporary return of many
inactive Brazilian radio concessions on tropical waves and short waves. When
they reactivate the short wave and tropical wave frequencies, they will
request migration to FM and thus the owners gain another FM radio.

** CANADA. 28170 CW, Feb 19 at 2311, VVV DE VA3XCD/B and repeated.
WI5V list: ``28.1700 VA3XCD YARKER, ONTARIO, CANADA 2W DIPOLE 20 APR
2003``. QRZ.com: ``VA3XCD Canada flag Canada, William G Pooley, 400
DEWEY ROAD, RR3, YARKER, ON K0K 3N0, Canada`` but no further info.
Yarker is NW of Kingston, NE of Greater Napanee (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** CUBA. 5025, Feb 19 at 0815, S9+25 of dead air in Spanish from R.
Rebelde. If you`re running the transmitter, why not modulate it, duh?
Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15140, Feb 19 at 2040, RHC English not off the air, lo-fi
into Maryland SDR. Waterfall shows very small modulation line, with
amorphous blobs every kHz or so out to at least plus/minus 5 but by
2045 the pattern changes to diagonal. Something`s always wrong at RHC.
The Other Side:

``READ TODAY THE CUBA OF TOMORROW February 13, 2024 PUBLIC HEALTH

** FRANCE. 21610-21615-21620, Feb 19 at 1652, DRM noise direct, S9+15.
1742 into Maryland SDR, S9 in French talk, 1800 RFI ID and continues
past 1830, off before next check 1936; labeled TDF with SNR of 22.8
db, lofi 8.08 kbps; ``Diffusion DRM assur?e par l`op?rateur TDF``

Andy Reid, Ont, heard this as long ago as Feb 11 at 1553 and ``mucking
up`` like jamming BBC on 21630, which is Ascension from 1600. No
problem here to 21630. Not in current HFCC, EiBi or Aoki, but in DRMrx
at 11-12 only from TDF, no further details.

In BC-DX, Wolfgang Bueschel presents a tentative HFCC A24 DRM TEST
sked from TDF ISS, on 28 frequencies, but only 21755 on 13m. Segments
are all for only 30 or 60 minutes (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KOREA NORTH [and non]. 7580, Feb 19 at 0806, JBA music and talk;
nothing in HFCC but EiBi & Aoki show VOK in Japanese at 07-13 & 21-24,
altho I had not noticed before 08. BTW, 7570 WRMI is OFF now tho
available all-night (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 27185 AM, Feb 19 at 1648 check, CB relay of K288FX 105.5
is not on air now from Enid; nor after 2300 (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Mon Feb 19 at 2300, token English from SNR, preview
and news; 2308 about whether mobile phones should be banned from
schools; 2323 multi-lingual ID montage not heard before, then fill
with a song from 1996 by a rock group evidently influenced by a visit
to Cuba, ``La Placa`` = license plate? Or more likely, ``Flaca`` = the
skinny girl (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960+, Feb 18 at 2300, VOT English not off the air, VG into
UTwente, but no time to listen now, rather UBMP; so I catch the last
repeat of the `Sunday` program:

6125.005, UT Monday Feb 19 at 0400, VOT English, VG S9/+15 into
Maryland SDR, no need for UTwente. S/on and news voiced by the badax
as I zone out. 0414 repeat the `Weekly Analysis` about Turco/Egypto
relations. I keep waiting for the `Letterbox` but almost give up: 0419
``with-you-every-hour`` promo. 0423 song. 0427 multi-lingual ID filler
reel. 0429 music. 0434 *finally* `Letterbox` starts some 17 minutes
later than before. Usual host, very informal, acknowledging almost
nothing but reception reports wanting QSLs, from: India and wants lots
of other promo goodies, sorry; Russia, none other than Anatoly Klepov,
Moscow, editor of RUS`-DX; someone from Young Stars Radio Club,
Hyderabad, India; Konstantin Barsenkov, St Pete, Russia, also in
RUS`-DX; Belgium; Andy from UK, no postal address; Tamil Nadu with
WRDay greetings; Germany; Gavin Waters, Australia advising of
overmodistortion; Canada; Tarek Zeidan, Egypt. Nice to hear several
familiar names from our contributors.

VOT guy gives their postal address but never spells Yenisehir as if
every new, or old, listener recognize it! Axually it`s Yeni?ehir with
a cedilla under the S which make it sh-sounding, name of a
municipality of Ankara. And both i`s are dotted! You will be wasting
your time looking for a postal address or much of anything about this
SHORTWAVE station at the TRT website, sidetracking into TRT WORLD,
i.e. video. BTW the PO Box number is 333 as announced, not merely 33
as in WRTH 2024, where Y--- is also cedillaless.

Back to the rest of the broadcast. LBox ends at 0446, more music fill;
0453 s/off for the 1330 broadcast only: something`s always awry at
Ankara; 0454 IS; 0456 restart IS but chopoff at 0457* before German or
any other language IDs; expecting Malay which starts elsewhere at
0500; or Turkish (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960.005, Feb 19 at 2310, JBA direct vs HNL, VOT not off
the air; 2349 into UTwente when measured, S9+40/45 with ``ABYS`` promo
between musix. 2354 ``WYEH`` promo and s/off as if the 1330 on 13635.
2355 IS. 2356 restart IS with German IDs to 2357*. Something`s always
erroneous at Emirler.

BTW, 5960 occasionally prolonged another hour for German, and rarely
another2 hour from 0100 in Portuguese, a language not on the original
B23 schedule at all but evidently in the program feed. But now it`s
official: via Manuel M?ndez, C?lio Romais in Brasil says it`s heard at
0100 Feb 18 on 7280 and that frequency is announced (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2230 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
February 18 at 2100 on IRRS via AM Italia, 1322.996 kHz, S9+5 into
UTwente across Europe with SAH of about 3 Hz, perhaps from a tiny UK
station; via nearby Noale, Italy SDR on 1322.998, VG S9+15/20, no SAH
or other QRM.

Also confirmed Sunday February 18 at 2256 the 2230 on SW Radio,
Germany, 3975.001, S9+5/10 into UTwente.

Also confirmed UT Monday February 19 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S9/+10 but
high noise level into Durango2 SDR. I hope the 7780 airings are better
somewhere altho aimed SW from FL.

Also confirmed UT Monday February 19 at 0400 on Area 51 [sic] via WBCQ
6159.935, S6/S7 into Maryland SDR.

Also confirmed Monday February 19 at 2030 on SW Radio, Germany,
3975.002, S9/+10 into UTwente. Next:

1500 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [unsked but reconfirmed every 2024 week]
2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975

you being out there``

Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. (7490), Sunday Feb 18 at 2300, WBCQ webcasting in mono
`Uncle Bill`s Melting Pot`, now monthly on third-Sundays, first half
interviewing and not enough music by a woman from India; second half
as promised, tribute to Peter Schickele who died recently: UB picked
some very obscure PDQ Bach stuff, partly in German, which I don`t
recall ever hearing on `Schickele Mix`; while some more accessible PDQ
Bach bits would have encouraged a wider audience (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. 12050, Feb 19 at 1655, hymn in Spanish, S8/S9 so WEWN is not
off the air as it was missing Feb 17 at 1946 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** YEMEN [non]. 11820, Feb 19 at 1944 horrible buzz into Maryland SDR.
11810 weaker but clear BBC English via UAE. 11860 only huge R Mart?,
should be too close in skip zone to DC? At 1955, Look at the
waterfall! Evenly spaced carriers about every 115 Hz apart
11817-11823. No program audio. This is presumably ex-11860 Sa`udi
transmitter carrying Republic of Yemen Radio, which was just as
defective on original frequency. At least it no longer confront Cuban
jamming and RM. At 2318 check direct, still humroar.

Don Moman, Alberta, replied earlier: ``it's not centered on 11820. If
you treat it as a USB signal, then it is closer to 11819 and most of
the stronger hum bars are in the typical USB voice range. There are
MANY 120 Hz spaced harmonics making up the buzz/hum. This would imply
a country that uses 60 Hz power or a 60 Hz generator.``

Of course, we know that unusually for the ME, Sa`udi Arabia is on 60,
and not Yemen or any other country on or off the Peninsula: 50. See:
https://www.generatorsource.com/Voltages_and_Hz_by_Country.aspx
S.A. must be a victim of American influence (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, not exhaustive but
checking likely spots mostly below 1220, Feb 20 at 0223-0231: 711,
774-2, 855-2, 891, 909, 999, 1044, 1053 -- mostly Western Sahara,
Spain or UK but also: 1431! kHz. Per mwlist, 1431 has got to be the
600 kW VOA Djibouti, or one of two 1-watt UK hospital stations; or
something undetailed in Greece. VOA sked 1530-0330. Everyone in NAm
without a local on 1430 can listen for the 1431 het. Woe betide DXers
in those hospitals blocking VOA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 15022.4 CW, Feb 19 at 2315, very slow Morse code, mostly
numbers, occasional letters. Searching UDXF iog on that exact
frequency gets a 2012y report but source and type of transmission not
shown: ``Most (maybe all) transmissions are now from Isabela, Puerto
Rico and possibly Davidsonville, MD too`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
