** BRAZIL. 28390 USB, May 7 at 2044, PU9FDO calling CQDX, working a
WA5, and W1RPG? About the OSOB, no beacons either. Not 100% sure of
call as infrequent and foneteix not clear, but this call exists in
qrz.com: PU9FDO Brazil flag Brazil, Zap +5567981106759, Fábio Costa "(
BIO )", Av.Santiago do Chile 399 (GRID GG29QO), CAMPO GRANDE, MS
79104370, Brazil (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11760, May 8 at 0645, RHC Spanish S8/S9 direct, again on air
way late, but was not 24 hours earlier. Flanked by matching wobbly
spurs about 11755.3 and 11764.7.

15140, May 8 at 1504, RHC Spanish, S9 with spurs at same displacement
as last night, so same transmitter: 15135.3 and 15144.7. // much
weaker S3 11760, no spurs audible now. Something`s always wrong at
RHC. The Other Side:

``A liter of oil or five pounds of sugar? What a Cuban retiree's
pension can buy --- 'They conned us, and the worst thing is the
humiliation of having to depend on others, even when you have a
pension', says a former state restaurant worker.
YOAN MIGUEL GONZÁLEZ PIEDRA | Holguín``

It`s not clear what unit of time the peso pensions refer to. They
think everyone would know that? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. May 8 circa 18 UT I`m bandscanning on the caradio since
there has been Es DX into the FM band reported eastward from Arkansas,
but I get nothing more than a couple suspicious fadeups on some
semi-open frequencies, which could also be tropo scatter.

Instead I encounter more local stuff: 89.3, KIEL, Loyal, the ``Radio
74 Internationale`` outlet which is somehow associated with France and
the 3ABN TV network, which also carries it on an audio-only subchannel
of K17JN Enid, still mislabeled K17JI -- with dead air, then just
barely modulation of a tone? pinging at the rate of approx.
144/minute. Later at 2048 with a slightly stronger signal, it sounds
like a clipped syllable by a YL voice like ``dap-dap-dap``, etc. Not
convenient to check how it sound on K17JN.

87.9, May 8 at 1843 UT, dead air in stereo, full quieting. Was not
there an hour before. Suspected from strange vehicle now parked next
door, i.e. a mobile RF feeder not turned off when not in use. Later as
I drive away, its range is little more than one block.

87.7, May 8 at 2019 UT, dead air in stereo instead of 87.9, at the
busiest intersexion in Enid, US 412/81, but maintains, so from a
parker, not a passer (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, May 8 at 2200, token English from SNR is weaker than
usual with fades during degraded propagation direct, but still
sufficient with brute force; 2208 feature interview about
relations/negotiations with UKQOGBANI over Gibraltar, four years since
it joined BREXIT (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, May 8 at 2200, no signal direct from VOT
English, either not on yet or propped out; but at 2233 into UTwente
when measured, VG S9+30/45. 2253 headlines, which they rarely repeat
at the end, 2254 s/off by the non-badax YL but she also claims we
``have been listening to`` 17620 at 1230! Something`s always awry at
Ankara; then only 3 or 4 notes of IS until chopoff before 2255*, no
finesse. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2241 monitoring: ``From: Richard
Lemke, St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, the desk of Richard’s listening
Post, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF, Antenna: random long wires in the trees,
Dear Glenn: Update, confirming WOR #2241, WRMI:
5850, QRN, 0130, 0155 (45343), 0159, May 4 UTC 2024 [Sat]
9395, 2330, 2344, 2358 S5, below, 2359, May 7 UTC 2024 [Tue]
(Lemke, Richard -AB)``

Confirmed Tuesday May 7 at 2330 on WRMI 9395, S9+10 but noisy into
Missouri SDR.

Also confirmed Tuesday May 7 at 2330 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975.002,
S8/9+10 into UTwente.

Also confirmed Wednesday May 8 at 1931 on SW Radio, Germany, S9+10 on
6160.001, S9/+5 on 3975.001 both into UTwente.

Also confirmed Wednesday May 8 at 2100 on WBCQ 7489.931, only S6/S7
into Maryland SDR, and doubtless much less if I checked direct. Too
bad that The Planet won`t employ a higher band in summery daytimes.
Next:

0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.
