Toby was a valued AJL member. She chaired an excellent conference in Seattle and continued as the National Conference Chair for several years. The decision of her synagogue's leadership is not an isolated case. Every time when I hear of such decisions, I feel a personal pain. I thank Toby in behalf of you and AJL council.
