Things look solid using the beta_test branch in Anarchy Arcade so far. Should we wait until it becomes the main branch before we push the update to users? Thanks for the security fixes. Unfortunately the 'upcoming' builds suffered from some ABI breakage that wasn't resolved in a timely manner -- in an ideal world the beta_test branch will function against builds from the current main release as well, but we have only done limited testing so far. - John

Our team still has to replace some sounds but the one major thing keeping us from releasing the mod’s new version is that we cannot tell people that they’d have to opt into the „upcoming“ beta to be able to play the game. People would install it and see it crash right away, then maybe find the solution and ditch it because it’s too much work to opt into that beta. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not actually too much work but people are used to things working right out of the box. I spend hours trying to figure out why it would crash on startup thinking I had done something wrong. Screw me for assuming the latest code branch would actually be compatible with the released version. Additionally, any code changes between "upcoming" and "beta_test" have not yet been pushed to the source-sdk-2013 repository on GitHub, which could cause further incompatibilities with mods. -- Nicholas Hastings AlliedMods.net Eric Smith Monday, September 7, 2015 10:39 PM We've released a beta update for the Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer depot. The updated depots include several security fixes. The name for the beta branch is "beta_test". If you're running a game that depends on the Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer tool, please give the beta a try and report any problems. You can email me directly with any problems you find. * Clients can opt-in to the beta using the Betas tab of the Properties dialog for the Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer tool (select "beta_test" in the dropdown menu) * Dedicated servers can find information about how to use a beta here: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD We're also working on updates for Counter-Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source, and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch. We'll have more information about those soon.
