I am happy to report that things are starting to shape up.
Besides not being able to see the text I enter into "cyradm", the most nagging problem I am having right now is in determining why "ctl_cyrusdb -c" fails.
When I issue that command from the /var/imap directory (as the cyrus user), I get the following dumped to stdout:
ctl_cyrusdb: unable to archive environment
ctl_cyrusdb: unable to archive environment
Checking the system log revels these errors:
Jul 24 19:23:17 powermac7300 ctl_cyrusdb[12952]: checkpointing cyrus databases
Jul 24 19:23:17 powermac7300 ctl_cyrusdb[12952]: DBERROR: archive /var/imap/db: cyrusdb error
Jul 24 19:23:17 powermac7300 ctl_cyrusdb[12952]: DBERROR: error archiving log file: /var/imap/db/log.0000000001
Jul 24 19:23:17 powermac7300 ctl_cyrusdb[12952]: DBERROR: archive /var/imap/db: cyrusdb error
Jul 24 19:23:17 powermac7300 ctl_cyrusdb[12952]: done checkpointing cyrus databases
Obviously, I am concerned about deploying the mail server with these errors in place.
Can somebody familiar with how the "ctl_cyrusdb" archives its data offer any advice?
What are the permissions on /var/imap/db?
