I used to get spontaneous reboots the first time i tried to use my pvr500. Changing the card's pci slot fixed is. You should probably try that and see if it helps. But first take a look at your module options. > My settings: > ------------ > teloche:~# cat /etc/modutils/ivtv First of all, something is just not right when comparing your settings and the output from /var/log/messages. Looks like your options aren't used at all. Did you remember to run update-modules after editing /etc/modutils/ivtv? > alias char-major-81 videodev > alias char-major-81-0 ivtv > alias char-major-81-1 ivtv > options msp3400 once=1 simple=1 debug=2 The msp3400 module is only needed for the pvr250/350 cards. > options cx25840 i2c_enable=1,1 no_black_magic=1 debug=2 The no_black_magic option is now removed from the module. By using it I think you actually will prevent the cx25840 module from loading. > options tda9887 debug=2 > options tveeprom debug=2 > options saa7127 i2c_enable=-1,-1 > options ivtv ivtv_dynbuf=0 tda9887=0 tuner=52,52 ivtv_debug=2 tuner=52,52 is wrong. According to the output from /var/log/messages your tuner type is 56. But your tuner type is auto detected so you probably don't need this option at all. tda9887=0 should be automatically set by the ivtv module, so I don't think you need this option either. ivtv_dynbuf=0 may or may not be needed. Experiment and see what gives you the most stable setup. If it makes no difference don't use it. > add below ivtv msp3400 tda9887 saa7115 tuner The ivtv module should be able to autoload all the needed modules, so you don't need this line.
