This is somewhat off-topic, but I figured Chris or one of the other
people on this list might know the answer. We are looking into placing
closed captioning (line 21) information into our MPEG-2 video streams.
From my limited research, EIA-608 captioning is contained in 'user
data' headers in the video stream itself. If such data exists in the
stream, does anyone know if the PVR-350 will decode it and place the
correct data on line 21 when played back?
As I don't have a MPEG-2 stream with the closed caption data in it, what
I need to know is whether the decoder on the card will read the correct
data from the stream, and put the data in line 21 when played through
the /dev/video16 device.
In addition, if anyone knows where to find a sample MPEG-2 with the
closed caption data embedded in it, or how to create one, please let me
know.
