The ivtv driver uses its own format to store CC data. Theoretically it might 
be possible to adapt the driver to support this standard, but that's a 
non-trivial exercise.

But using the ivtv format it is possible to record and output CC data 
correctly. At least, I think that that's the current status of the driver 
(being in PAL country I cannot verify it myself).
