I don't have Vipre what about the touch curser? You turn this on by shift num 
pad plus

Have you tried Convenient OCR on that screen, Tom?  Lots of times, it will read 
things that other times is invisible.
Try Insert-Space, then O then W and see if it gives you the scanning progress 
dialog.
