Hi Sandy, There are many settings for Jaws, & you could say the chosen Verboscity Level is a, for lack of a better term, the controller of most of the other settings you make. This is because if you tell Jaws to say something in another settings area, but turn it off in the Verboscity settings, then that setting won't work.
Trying to learn about the Verboscity settings is good, but learning more about the basic more often used settings will help you understand how Jaws works from a more understandable perspective. Meaning, start slowly because there's a lot to it, not just Jaws, but how the computer & Jaws work together. So in essence, you're not going to only learn about how Jaws works, but the computer as well. When Rick speaks of reading the Help menues, this is an excellent way to learn about all the fascits of Jaws, but doing so at your own speed. Also for the future, remember when you ask a question to the list members to always tell the list what version of Jaws, what operating system, & what program / website your inquiring about. This gives you your best chance to get the most helpful answers. Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers! Sennt from my iBarstool. Arguing with a woman is like reading a software license agreement. As I mentioned in a previous message, I would explore the Jaws Help topics., which can be accessed from the help menu in the Jaws main window. Jaws has so much configuration, it would be impossible to remember it all! Even I consult the help topics from time to time. HTH, Rick Justice "Tomorrow's another day, another way!" Beginner, Intermediate, & Advanced. The higher the level you select to run, the less Jaws will speak as you use the program, & this means all across the board. So, if you're running Beginner you will hear much more of Jaws as you do your work, email, web serfing, etc... Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.
