My guess is that the "parrent document" being announced is part of the
technical information available in "Developer Mode", which is now part of
Internet Explorer 8. Pressing F12 toggles "Developer Mode" on and off. It
provides the capability to view and dynamically modify the underlying HTML
and CSS, along with the resulting DOM, that make upp the webpage. The
"parent document" reference would be the very top item in the Document
Object Model (DOM). Either you unknowingly got switched into Developer Mode
or JAWS is picking up information that should not be displayed. If pressing
F12 does not fix the problem, see if pressing Insert + Escape allows JAWS to
read the page correctly.

Oh, it's strange. On some computers IE8 is really slow, but does not crash
so often. The perrent document window might be in connection with a pdf
document.

I installed IE8 when it first came out... with whatever version of JAWS
was
current then... perhaps that was 10? I'm now using the latest. I was
getting blank pages, crashes, and that "open parent document" button that
another member mentioned. I rolled back to IE7 and have used it ever
since.

That was one of many issues that I encountered. Can anyone explain how
to
avoid this "open parent document" one?

Along with some of you, I uninstalled IE8 after a short time due to
problems
with JAWS. I am using XP Pro and latest JAWS with IE7. I'd much
appreciate
it if you have recently had problems with IE8, if you will please advise
me
and describe any difficulties. Thanks.
