I wonder if it is because they look good? Seems I heard that from
somewhere. People love eye candy.

So then, why did MS introduce them?

Semantics. In Word and Excel, there are the more general top line
ribbons and the more specific bottom line ribbons. The top line
ribbon has a home position, helpful to navigating.
The bottom ribbon (which I called a line) has sub parts, which the
JAWS virtual ribbon feature makes look like the sub menus on the top
line menu familiar to most of us. The whole point of the JAWS virtual
ribbon menu is to create the appearance of the top line menu/sub menu
combination.
All of this said, navigating ribbons is a bit like navigating a ship
at night by sight using sunglasses.
Cheers.

Just another way to say bottom line.

what do you mean 2nd line menus?

So far, I prefer the JAWS virtual ribbon as I don't use much on the
second line menus on Word and use mainly keystrokes on Excel. The
JAWS
virtual ribbon works fine for me in Thunderbird. Drawback to the
JAWS
virtual ribbons: Cant use first letter navigation on the lower
ribbon.
I've heard conflicting tales about the JAWS virtual ribbon
leaving out
some menu choices.
But, like I said, I'm a newby to virtual ribbons.

Hi Jaws users,
Is it easier to use the virtual ribbon in jaws as to just using the
Microsoft ribbons? I would like opinions from all you Jaws users
as to
which way you have your pc setup. Which one is easier to use.
