But this wouldn't solve the general problem because, at least for me, it will often be necessary not to clear the console. If it isn't possible to make the perfomance of staying at the end size independent, I would like to be able to switch it off. Even without the speed problem it would be quite nice. Otherwise you can't really start analyzing the output while a script is running. And it also can be quite difficult to find the output start again after several thousand lines of output.
