I have been part of this episode, with strong views sometimes. making statements that caused pain and hurt to others. I wish to tender my unreserved apologies to everyone so affected, and to plead for forgiveness!
It is also upon this premise and my utmost believe in total loyalty and unflinching support for leadership and considering my conflicting position with my President on the recent matter, that I, Godwin Obekpa Okpe tender my resignation as the PROVOST MARSHAL of Abuja chapter of COJOSA, . I honestly thought that it was a settled agreement to forge ahead, and allow "sleeping dogs lie"; hence my reaction upon reading the first letter from my President, Tony Akhidenor titled :" let the truth be told" Without pretense, I regret the turnout of events despite all apologies. I pray and hope we truly overcome this moment soon. I wish to also salute the courage of the optimists and all mediators in the matter. I shall however remain committed to the cause of a united COJOSA, devoid of bad blood, unhealthy rivalry and competition, egotism and sectionalism. I subscribe to discipline at all times and respect for seniors, regardless of how endowed any has been blessed, and in turn, respect, courtesy, protection, example and encouragement to juniors, for that is the integral part of the training I imbibed from Command. To all those that I may have disappointed by my decisions and actions, I crave your indulgence!! I again apologize to all and especially to Tony Akhidenor and Andrew if in any way they were insulted by my statements. Unfortunately Tony's comments were posted on my friends column in facebook and most of my family and friends have read this. I see the wisdom in all Gabriel Bigwan and Daniel Opolo is saying but had no answer when asked by my father what I did to emanate such open hatred from someone so much younger than I am and feels there is more to it than my letter. He also cautioned me not to respond to the threat that I will be beaten up and found this very distasteful. I have brought much dishonor to a great man (at least in my eyes) and hence resign my position as interim head of this committee with immediate effect. I also wish to dissociate myself from any Cojosa activity henceforth and crave the indulgence of all to respect my wishes. I cherish all my command friends in facebook and will continue to participate in Bridgets and Glory Kudes comments as well as take part in Sams controversies and Godwin Okpe and Grants insights.
