MEJDANI COMES IN ILLEGAL VISIT >PRISTINA, May 24 (Tanjug) - Albania is again violating international norms and >apparently doing everything to further worsen the situation in >Kosovo-Metohija. The visit on Wednesday of Albanian President Redzep Mejdani >can be interpreted only in that way, because Tirana is apparently using every >opportunity for provocations and supporting separatist aspirations of their >kinsmen in Kosovo-Metohija. Mejdani is, in fact, on an illegal visit because >he has entered a sovereign state, with which Albania does not even have >diplomatic relations since April 14, 1999. Coming from Tirana is information >that the main goal of Mejdani's illegal visit is talks with Hashim Tachi. >Apparently, Mejdani wants to "celebrate" the new "transformation" of the >terrorist so-called KLA into a terrorist so-called Democratic party. Objective >observers in Pristina assess that Mejdani wants to joint the campaign ahead of >the upcoming illegal local elections in the province. His announced meeting >with Tachi clearly shows who is his favourite. The trouble is, however, that >every such and similar visits from Tirana leaves very difficult consequences. >Every time after such visits the violence of Albanian terrorists increases, >raising the number of Serbian victims. No doubt Mejdani is coming to lend >support to Albanian terrorists. His illegal visit is a provocation, because, >Albania took an active part in NATO's aggression on Yugoslavia, and became >itself an aggressor. KOSOVO AND METOHIJA - TERRORISM ALBANIAN TERRORIST >ATTACKS RUSSIAN KFOR TROOPS PRISTINA, May 23 (Tanjug) - Former regional >commander of the terrorists "KLA" Ramush Haradinay provoked on Tuesday a grave >incident, when he physically attacked a member of the Russian peacekeeping >forces in Malisevo municipality. According to a KFOR spokesman, the incident >occurred at a check point in Lozica, about 50 km from Pristina, when >peacekeeping forces stopped a vehicle occupied by Haradinay and three other >men. In the vehicle were found a handgun and rifle for which he did not >possess a permit. Russian KFOR members detained them because of that for some >time, but Haradinay tried to ran away and attacked a KFOR member. Peacekeepers >and policemen subdued Haradinay who was slightly injured in the process. He used his stay in the homeland to go to Cacak >and Novi Sad where he visited facilities that have been reconstructed or are >in the process of reconstruction, after the NATO bombing. Incidentally, >"Beogradska banka AD" is the administrator of the Foundation "Sanja >Milenkovic", founded in memory of a sixteen-year old girl, a talented >mathematician, a student of the Belgrade Mathematics Gymnasium, who was killed >on the Morava Bridge, hit during the last year’s aggression. In the press >release of "Beogradska banka AD", issued in the wake of yesterday’s visit and >the donation of our fellow countrymen from Australia to this Foundation, it is >said that the Foundation has been established thanks to the initiative of the >Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Zivadin Jovanovic, and that the name of >the talented mathematician Sanja Milenkovic will be remembered by many of >those equally talented in her generation, who may also become the >beneficiaries of the Foundation, whose goal is to provide scholarships for >young talents in the field of mathematics and technical sciences. First >scholarships have already been granted from the funds of the Foundation, >established in July last year. In the year 1999, 20 scholarships have been >given to students most proficient in mathematics, natural and technical >sciences. FROM FOREIGN PRESS "MONITOR": U.S.- LEADER OR OCCUPIER >OF THE WORLD SOFIA, May 24 (Tanjug) - NATO's aggression against FR Yugoslavia, >which during 78 days of incessant bombing killed 2,000 women, children, old >people and destroyed bridges, roads, hospitals, factories, apartments and >other civilian facilities, causing damages of over 150 billion dollars, was >called in Washington or on Broadway a "miracle U.S. show," the Bulgarian daily >"Monitor" said. In an article headlined U.S - Leader or Occupier of World, the >Bulgarian daily said that in the West the aggression against Yugoslavia has >now been reduced to the issue whether U.S.-led NATO was the right hand of >Kosovo-Metohija Albanian terrorists and separatists of the so-called KLA or >those Albanian extremists were the "land army" of the Western military >alliance, which will be remembered by the world for all times by its brutality >and the use of new weapons banned by all international conventions. In the >United States, publicist Nikolai Slatinski said, most politicians and >officials want to "turn NATO into a world policeman to strengthen the unipolar >model and American leadership in the world." The United States has taken the >right, the author said, to use its military power whenever it wants to and >reminded about the bombing of Sudan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Yugoslavia... Since >1990, the United States has sent 25 times its military forces across the world >and spent 15 billion dollars on "military operations." Americans, alleged >"fighters" for "human rights," led by their presidents, belligerent generals >and political "democrats," are "in fact terrible mass murderers of entire >peoples." "SPECTACLE DU MONDE": LOST ILLUSIONS ABOUT KOSOVO-METOHIJA PARIS, >May 24 (Tanjug) - "Lost illusions" is the title of a lengthy report about >Kosovo-Metohija, published in the May issue of the French monthly "Le >Spectacle du Monde", one year after NATO's aggression on Yugoslavia. Analyzing >the chronology of events on the eve of the bombing of Yugoslavia, the various >manipulations of public opinion used by NATO state officials and by the >Alliance itself, as well as OSCE reports and of the special envoy for human >rights in the territory of the former Yugoslavia Jiri Dienstbier after the >aggression, the monthly assessed that - with respect to Kosovo-Metohija - "the >time has come for shedding illusions." The report quotes in the introduction >Dienstbier's assessment from March this year that the "bombing (of Yugoslavia) >did not resolve, but multiplied existing problems," that "war has devastated >not only the Balkans, but also neighbouring countries," that in >Kosovo-Metohija was underway "ethnic cleansing" of Serbs and other >non-Albanians and that "KFOR and UNMIK have not achieved anything." __________________________________ KOMINFORM P.O.
