John - Humping in this situation is a dominance behavior, not a sexual
one. Even fixed dogs, male and female, will hump to show dominance over
other dogs. Farley is 6 months old and was desexed at 9 weeks and he
occasionally humps toys. Even though I know it is not a sexual thing, it
does make people uncomfortable, so I do not allow it. I push him to the
floor and say "no humping" very sternly. He was doing it quite a bit
around 4 months and now it is fairly irregular. It is up to you to decide
if you are going to allow it or not and then deal with it as you see fit.
