Thanks for all the suggestions. Alice, he likes yours best. IF he makes it, I'll let you know, but it might not happen because unfortunately I don't think his memory is what it was. He could have forgotten all about it by tomorrow.

He can forget things completely or forget them for a while. This morning he was supposed to be having a diabetic blood test, and I reminded him that he mustn't have anything to eat or drink after 8.30 last night. He had a glass of milk at 10 pm - he'd forgotten. So this morning I have to grovel on his behalf and cancel/rebook the appointment because he can't always hear people properly on the phone. The joys of getting old!
