So, what would it take to build a lightweight photo-sharing service like
Flickr using StatusNet? I don't think very much. Since we allow file
uploading, you could have a notice per photo (notice text provides the
description), and "comments" would just be replies.
Here's my list of things that would make a FlickrLite with StatusNet
workable:
* File upload in the API.
* Privacy? Sharing only with family, friends, or a particular group?
Is that 100% necessary?
* Marking each notice and file with license info? I think so.
* In-line view of images.
* Tagging others' notices? Could this work by just replying to a
notice and including the tag?
Am I missing anything? This doesn't seem like rocket science. There may
be some things that need to be done in core; others would work fine in
plugins.
