I also use Profile Prism. The latest releases of Profile Prism include a special target for profiling Epson printers in NCA mode. But even with this special target you need a scanner with very good dynamic range and a driver with the ability to do raw scans. I use a Canon LeDI 20 with VueScan Pro. The Canon scanner uses 3 light emitting diodes (red, green and blue) and as a result the scans have very low levels of metamerism. This is important because the printer target and the IT8 target will have different inks and therefore will have different metamerism characteristics particularly with the florescent lights that most scanners use. I felt that I did not get good results with a scanner that had a florescent light. This depends on the inks you are using and pigment inks are much harder to profile because of higher levels of metamerism. VueScan Pro will do raw scans and also will do multi-pass averaged scans which results in very low noise in the darker patches of the target (increased dynamic range). It took me a while to figure out a workable combination of hardware, software and settings to make this work but I now get very good printer profiles now. Perhaps not as good as having a good spectro but better than the stock profiles by a significant margin. I get slightly better results in NCA mode. > > Nicolas > > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Louis Solomon [SteelBytes] > Sent: Wednesday 08 September 2004 08:15 > To: > Subject: [Lcms-user] Epson printer drivers for Windows > > [from another thread] > > ...
