All of the example sites on that page are still running the old 0.8.x
code. The new 0.9.0 code allows greater theme options. Did you look at
the themes in the 0.9.0 demo 'Layout Manager' module under 'Core'?

With the new modular code, we can choose the components we need/want.

Did you look at the 'Menu Manager' module in the 0.9.0 demo? It's now
possible to create horizontal menus, activate menus on selected pages
only, etc.
