Non-government organisations (NGOs) play a critical role in civil
society and building social capital. While their importance is
recognised there are many forces that appear to challenge their
legitimacy and social role.

The CHALLENGING ADVOCACY forum will bring together non-government
organisations (NGOs), corporates and government with advocates from
various organisations and perspectives to network and debate advocacy
issues.

Leading NGO professionals from various social justice organisations such
as Amnesty International, Social Change Media, Bicycle NSW, Muslim Women
Association, Refugee Advocates and many others will speak on current
debates within advocacy and provide practical advice on campaign and
communication strategies.

They will engage with government policy makers, media decision-makers,
and business and corporate managers - on issues of civic responsibility
and the future of advocacy in our democracy.

The Challenging Advocacy forum is an initiative of the Masters of Social
Inquiry program at UTS.
