Funny, I like the way it works now. Having a "reports name" in addition to the "real" names seems overly complicated to me. However, if you always want reports to show a specific name, you could always make that the chosen name now and it would be the one that appears on reports.

It seems a little convolved to me? I'd like to suggest that Legacy modify their software to let you select one of the alternate, given names from the AKA list. This would require adding a feature to the AKA file to select a preferred name for narrative reports and link it to the report, options menu. This would seem to be a more "logical" way to do it? For example not only would George "Calvin" Gilmore use Calvin when referring to the person eg. Calvin married - no quotes. but would write George "Calvin" Gilmore born 25 Dec 1881 with quotes. By using George Calvin "Calvin" Gilmore the only time the name in quotes appears is on your screens, provided that when compiling reports you have it set to remove names in quotes.
