Brian,

The difference between Vista and XP (in this context) is that with Vista if a 
program is installed in the Program files folder then one cannot save the data 
in the folder ie. Vista does not allow data to be saved in the Program Files 
folder. For people who regularly swop their files this makes life more 
difficult, apart from having to set up alternative default directories for all 
the Legacy data.

I would imagine that the same is true for Windows7 although I have not looked 
at this o/s as yet.
