To minimise Master Sources I would do something like creating an event called "Military" (there may already be one in the list - can't remember) in which one can put most of the details eg date of service, rank, regiment etc, create a Master Source with the name "Military Records", specify its broad contents and put pretty well everything else in details and detail notes.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Need Advice Recording Civil War Information
Date: Sun, 11 Jun 2006 21:31:43 -0400

I'm looking for some guidance. I found a branch of my family where
all of the men served in the Civil War. A couple of then died in
Civil War POW camps. I'm kind of overwhelmed as to how to handle all of the information
that I have found. For one individual, I have found: American Civil
War Soldiers Record, American Civil War Regiments Record, and Two
American Civil War Battle Summaries.

Should this information be entered as events, notes, combination of
the two, or some other method? I did search the archives for some
guidance but did not find anything relevant.
