It's interesting for sure... Imho working with all the JACK applications can be a pain on Linux, but with nsm support, the experience is much better. And then standalone applications are preferable in certain situations actually. If I would need one instance of Zynaddsubfx, I would always grab the standalone version. If I need more instances, I might switch to Carla instead and grab the plugin. On the other hand, I know people are using Rakarrack, because you can launch multiple instances and chain them together to create something interesting.
