Give me a chance to price out your needs -
We only buy from top-tier distributors (Like Ingram Micro),
we have been in business since 1990,
we only sell quality parts - not refurbs or knock-off
or fell-off-the-truck -

I have no idea. Basically I just edited my XF86Config file

You seem to have the same notebook I have. I was told there will be a
beta sound driver for the 1968 soon, but there has not been a date yet.

Good luck

I'd install Win98 first - use a disk to boot to dos, use fdisk to setup the
hard drive the way you want (two partitions - one for Win98, the other will
be used for linux - you'll partition the Linux side when you get to the
Linux install)

I currently have a 7.6GB drive on my system. I've given Win98 3.2G and
Linux 4.4G.

I have this crazy idea, please let me know if its not so crazy, and what I
need to do it. I have a HP 7200e CD Writer and a CD-rewritable CD. The writer
connects through the paralell port. I would like to be able to make an ext2
file system on the CD, and backup my linux systemm periodically on to the CD.
I want to be able to just go along adding files to the CD as though it where
a big floppy. Can I do this, HP supply Windows software which lets you do
this, but is there any secret.

Did you add the routes to your routing table. 'man route' If your
pinging localhost (127.0.0.1) then your not using your ethernet card.
Does 'ifconfig' have your NIC listed (usually eth0)? If your card has
a hardware address of ff:ff:ff:ff:ff (not sure how many) then cold
boot your system.

Yes, this is a generic QIC 02 device I believe.

I use 2 5150 Wangteks with Linux

all you have to do is to get a the qic package (the file is called
tpqic02.tgz

i think(I found it on SuSe Linux aktuell CD #6) and a kernel supporting
QIC runtime
configuration. A complete installation description is included in the
package.

If the chip on the DEC card is labeled AM7990 it is indeed the Lance
Chip and the
driver should work, Jumper settings are difficult to find. for DMA and
IRQ just follow

the Signal from the ISA slot fingers. for io adress use a utility like
scanport or just
try some. Try www.slug.org.au/index/

please mail if you run into any problems.

P.S.: kannst auch in Deutsch fragen, aber vielleicht gibts ja noch
andere die's interessiert.

Hi!

I've installed RH5.2 on my computer.

I have a little problem with X. I cant use higher resoution than 1024*768.

XF86Setup will only allow me to use 1024*768 with 256 colors. By editing
then X config file it was quit easy to fix the colors. It works i any color
mode (I am currently using 32 bit)..

I have a Dell system with STB nVidia 128 video card (8 megs) and Dell
D1028LR monitor. Maximum scanning frequency is, Vertical: 50-120 Hz, and
Horizontal: 30-69 kHz.

I'm using the XFree86, SVGA server v3.3.3.1.

How do I increase the resolution? (It is no problem under Windows,
1280*1024, 32 bit)

Thanks in advance for any help!!

For everyone reading this thread.

I had exactly the same problem.

I tried several different irq settings to no avail until, I set it to the
same irq that is used in Win98. (for my machine it's irq 9)
Don't assume linux uses the same irq as win98.

After I boot into linux as root, here's what I type.

:setserial /dev/cua2 irq 9 (cua2 is com 3 for redhat)
:modprobe ppp
:ppp-on (my redhat dialup script)

After that, I'm online and use Lynx to surf the web.

Thanks to everyone who helped me with this pppd stuff,

Right! My coauthor and I put up the good fight on this one whe we
wrote "highly parallel computing". Our publisher didn't want it to
seem that they were printing a thousand typos so we added the
following paragraph to the copyright page.

In using quotation marks, we follow the American Chemical Society
Style Guide's recommendation for "logical placement", and place
punction inside quotation marks only if the punctuation is part of
    the quotation.

Rich,-
I've been using the HP 855C for a long time, and since I'm assuming that
both printers are in the same (800) series, the 895 should work. As for the
Jet Direct card, we use them extensively at work, it essentially acts as a
standalone printer on the network ie you plug the Jet Direct into the
ethernet and the printer into that and vilia.. no computer resources are
tied up with the printer.

Can it still run LINUX with no problem? I've read somewhere that LINUX don't

Celeraon 300A runs about 70-80 bucks and a good MB is 95-120 depending

I was not able to find a corresponding configuration utility under

perfectly happy if I won't see a garbage after pressing "startx".
Mono works pretty well in command line mode and under mc, just
I'd prefer to see something sensible under X too.

Thanks for any suggestions,
2.0.35 kernel if does matter,

Hello,

Does anyone know of any MCA ports going on ... I have an old IBM PS/2
Model 70 386 16mhz and a MCA Ethernet adapter so I'm looking for a way to
give it new life.

I found the URL, http://glycerine.cetmm.uni.edu/mca/ at
http://www.linux.org/projects/ports.html but the URL does not seem to be
online.

Thanks in advance
