In my case I had to delete the spaces in the option fields of /etc/fstab.
Took some days to figuring it out...

try "clock"...
linux makes differences between system time and cmos time. But I think clock
does it.

Hello,
Your problem could be kernel config option "CONFIG_SMD_DISKLABEL".
It is SMD disklabel (Sun partition tables) support, and it is turned off in
default kernel that ships with RedHat 5.2
Hope this helps,
Abdullah

I'd like to use the hardware zoom features of my
Matrox Millennium under X11. Does anyone know of
and tools to do this or even where I can get hold of
some specs so I can write the code myself.

Thanks - Brian

Hi you all.
I am trying to configure a SiS 6326 AGP video card on Linux with the Xfree86
3.3.3. The problem is that it seems that the configuration program doesn't
recognise the memory from the card (videoram=0) and all display modes are
deleted. Even if I edit manually the XF86config file and set up the valid
modes for my monitor, when I start the X windows (xinit), evrything becomes
black and you can see that the cursor changes when you are on top of the
terminal or outside it. But you cannot see anything as everything is black
(except the cursor).

May somebody help me? Thanks before hand.

This is a known bug in NT4: it is looking for a CLI instruction at the
start of the primary boot loader code. LILO 2.1 works around this by
inserting the CLI instruction.

My problems center around the mistake of purchasing not 1, but 2 sound
cards by Aztech (the first is an SC-128 PCI & my wife's which is the 338-A3D
PCI). I've checked with 4Front about their OSS & neither cards are
supported. Supposedly the SC-128 uses the S3 SonicVibes chipset, but I
still can't get audio on either machine.
Also, is there any software to utilize the TV tuner on ATI video card
available? The ATI has a BT829 chip on board & that option is compiled as a
module for the kernel.

Actually, graphics cards are pretty cheap nowadays, so if I were you I'd
get a good one. I'm perfectly happy with my Riva TNT based card, and I
run it at 1600*1200 32 bpp 75 hz refresh ( Windows confines me to 60
hz..... )

Hi,

OK, so it runs Windows - that's why it's called Winchip :-)
But... does it run Linux ? Has anyone actually used one of these in a Linux
box ? If so, what flavour/version ?

Thanks,

Hello. I cant get linux to recognize my SCSI controller. Problem is that the
computer is an older 486 and the controller is integrated in the motherboard.
I have no idea what brand it is. I did, however, find a chip marked 'NCR53C94'
which is pretty close to some drivers available (such as NCR53C8xx etc). In
the bios i've set the scsi to 0x340, irq 11, dma 6, which are the defaults (no
conflicts, i've checked). ive manually gone through each and every driver
provided with both suse and red hat, giving each always io=0x340 as a
parameter, with no success. i also tried autoprobing and autoloading of
modules. generally i get a normal error message such as 'device blah blah not
found' which makes sense. sometimes i get something like 'VFS: Media in dev
2:0 changed' or 'No minix or ext2 filesystem in dev 2:0'. i'm guessing thats
just the modules being weird upon not finding my scsi controller, because
there certainly is an ext2 filesystem in fd0 (the boot disk) and it hasn't
'changed'.
anyone have any suggestions? I cant really install linux without a recognized
hard drive :(

I have tried several times to download this file. I never get a gzip
compatible file as a result, and all the usual indications are wrong during
the download (time estimates of 100's of hours). The file on my local drive
always ends up being BansheeX-199902230.tar.gz and 3,130kB long.

[I'm still using Windows having only got Linux X Windows working as a very
low resolution, essentially useless screen with my Voodoo Banshee card. The
Windows IE4 download dialog goes crazy with this file, never seen such
behaviour before.]

Anyone else had trouble? Is the file mirrored somewhere else?

Thanks for suggestions

Date: Mon, 22 Mar 1999 11:50:01 GMT

For those interested, I would like to add an update to this posting.

Since I wrote this, I have been able to get my colorado to work "raw", using
paride compiled into the kernel, and select "epat" and "pt" as the drivers for
the device.

However, the "mt" commands don't (yet) work and for all intents and purposes
the device is dead to all backup software. Only a raw "tar" directly to
/dev/pt1 works and writes to the tape drive.

So there IS light at the end of the tunnel. If anyone is interested, I have
a script to load in the correct modules for the drive. Please just email me at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and I will send it to you. If demand it high, I will put
up a web page.

If anyone gets the drive working with "mt", please email the solution to me!!!

Newbie server operator here. I'm running a POP server, and, since people
are relying on me to provide their mail, I would like to make backups each
night. I have installed an Adaptec 2940 SCSI interface and an HP SureStore
T20 tape drive (10/20).

How does one go about mounting and using such a device? I've investigated
the tar command and mount command in my references, but cannot locate solid
information.

Actually, I have an internal Zip100Mb IDE device and have the same question
about that.

All hp will be certainly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
