Requesting help with dosemu

Hello

I have not been able to get dosemu to run. I have followed 'README.bindist' to the letter several times, the directory dosemu is created with the 7 files. When I try to run dosemu with ./xdosemu or ./dosemu I am returned to the prompt after a fraction of a second. The first time I did get the liability disclaimer and answered 'yes'

Boot log only reads "Running unprivilaged in low feature mode"

Yes,I am running a P4 2.4G with a colored hat size 8.

I am just starting out with Linux and hope in some way I can help with the developement of this program. In the mean time may I get a bit of help - what am I missing?
