I wasn't aware of this when it took place last fall, but it looks remarkably similar to a problem I'm working on with someone else now. Check out the thread: http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-usb-devel&m=107901912105744&w=2 > I applied his patch on top of 2.6.4 and it solved my problem. Actually it looks like there may be two bugs, or at least, that's what it looks like in that other thread and your printer problem likely shares at least one of them. The first bug is timeouts that are much too short, confusing the device. The second is a bug (or feature?) of VIA's UHCI controllers: They stop working when they receive a packet larger than expected. There's got to be a way to prevent or cope with this bug, but I haven't found it yet. > Is there > any way I can provide useful debugging information that may lead to > this bug getting fixed in the kernel? Not at the moment, but maybe later. I'll get back to you. > My original post may also be of interest: > http://www.ussg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0312.0/0087.html Alan Stern ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IBM Linux Tutorials Free Linux tutorial presented by Daniel Robbins, President and CEO of GenToo technologies.
