You've got a lot further than I have with USB2.0 using those kernels
and usb-storage. I use mostly memory cards (up to 32Mbyte) and Zip
discs (up to 250MByte). All I got was crashes, hangs or oopses,
especially when trying to unload modules. I gave up at 2.4.21 and
went to 2.5.69 which is much better. Although I've still had little
success with USB2.0 (I haven't worked hard at it because I'm so sick
of it not working) I'm finding 1.1 is much more usable so you might
think it's worth a try.

There were some filesystem issues I found with 2.5.69 using mkswap and
fdisk/cfdisk, so be careful if you try it.

The make and part number of the PCI USB controller might be an issue,
can you give more details? I'd like to try to get one to try it out.

Ged.
