Actually, we don't really "compete" with any of those organizations. ACM and
IEEE/CS are much BROADER organizations than AIP. AIP is _JUST_ for the
Internet market. Just as there will always be room for "ecommerce"
organizations in addition to "Internet-wide" organizations, there will
always be room for "Internet-wide" organizations with
"computer-industry-wide" organizations. Its just a matter of focus. ISOC is
an EDUCATIONAL institution (501c3), not a professional association (501c6).
Different focus. AIP is not about education while that is one of ISOC's
primary foci. Many AIP members are also ISOC members.

As for the AIP web site, you can reach it at http://www.association.org/.
AIP was founded in 1997 from the merger of the Webmasters' Guild (founded
1994), Internet Developers Association (founded 1995) and the International
Society of Internet Professionals (ISIP).

Sure. You are entitled to your skepticism. You probably have heard of one or
more of AIP's constituent organizations (named above), if not AIP, itself.
It _IS_ strange you haven't heard of AIP in LA, though, as our LA chapter is
one of our largest and one of the most attended of the LA groups (such as
Vic, Lawnmower, etc.).

You can find out more about AIP by going to the AIP web site
(http://www.association.org/ and selecting the "AIP At-A-Glance" link. This
gives you a bit about AIP...at-a-glance.

Hopefully this answers questions to all the subscribers of the list who had
questions about AIP. I know most of you are more interested in the DNSO
proposals themselves rather than having your bandwidth taken up by
descriptions of the organizations behind them over and over, but I do want
to make sure I answer, in an open forum, questions asked in an open forum. I
encourage anyone who would like to do so to check out the AIP web site and
the At-A-Glance page for more detail on the association.

Sincerely,
Andrew Kraft
