It seems that in Mac OSX Italian keyboard 'Ctrl-m' is mapped to ā€˜?ā€™.  I have a 
modified layout of the Italian keyboard in which Ctrl-m is mapped to ā€˜U+Dā€™. 
With this layout LyX works correctly.
