I guess I see what you meant: if a plain lyx file is opened, we should have menu items 'save' and 'save gzipped'. If a gzipped file is opened, we should have menu items 'save' and 'save plain/unzipped''. This does add some complexity. :-) I would still prefer 'save' for 'save plain' and 'save gzipped'.
