AFAIK, XeTeX does not embed the PDF-standard fonts (Times/Helvetica/Courier) that are required to be present for any PDF-using application by the PDF standard. You might find a config setting or command line switch to change this behaviour in the XeTeX documentation. Alternatively, you can select a lookalike font like TeX-Gyre Termes. Günter
