If you are using jabref as the bib-manager, you could click on entrytype, which will sort them and you have all your incollections, articles or whatever listed in groups. If you have in your bibfile not only the references referred to in the document, use tools in jabref and New subdata base based on aux file which gives you only those references which you have cited in the docu. To find the actual citations in the docu, use Richards hint: That said, maybe you can use the citation list in the outline view to do what you need to do: Document>Outline, then choose "List of Citations" from the dropbox at the top.
