The bug was reported against openmotif 2.3.0 beta 1, and closed without any action being taken because openmotif 2.3.0 beta 2 became available:

It was reported again in another bug which may include a fix and is still open:

http://trac.macosforge.org/projects/macports/ticket/8975


The openmotif port has no maintainer, which is probably why this hasn't been fixed yet. Please try the solution in ticket 8975 and see if it works for you. If so, I can commit the fix to the port.
