While it works, it's still a hack and not a proper solution. I checked with the BlueZ people. As it seems, in recent kernels the HID devices were separated from the USB code (there is now CONFIG_HID, include/linux/hid.h and drivers/hid/). The HID code is now shared between USB and Bluetooth. So reporting mode can now be handeled correctly. The latest BlueZ kernel patches include what's missing on the bluetooth side for reporting mode.
