Do FireWire drives work well on Intel Macs running Linux? I'd like to
run Linux, but don't have enough room on my internal drive, and can't
install a second one because it's a laptop (MacBook Pro).

I ask because people report very mixed results of using FireWire
storage on the linux1394-user mailing list
(http://www.linux1394.org/).

I installed Debian for PowerPC on an IDE drive with a WiebeTech
DriveDock attached to a G3 iBook. The yaboot boot loader didn't
support FireWire, so I put the kernel and initrd on the iBook's
internal drive.

I expect a similar strategy will work as long as FireWire storage is
working reliably.

Thanks for any advice you can give me.
