I think the new DVD drives check if the region codes match and if they don't, the DVD drive will send random data instead of the real data on disk. Therefore, you won't be able to play your legally bought DVDs even with libdvdcss. It's a hardware/firmware "problem" (i.e. defective by design). Enjoy.
