I've been trying to upgrade my MBP from Slackware 10.2 to Slackware 11. Most of the hardware has been much easier to configure this go around, but the display has been giving me major headaches. In Slackware 10.2, which runs xorg6.8, I was able to run dual-screen with 1680x1050 on each screen with no problems. In Slackware 11, which runs xorg6.9, I have been unable to get anything, single or dual-screen, out of the ATI driver.
I am running the same exact patched-kernel & modules in both installs. In Slackware 10.2 I was not using the fglrx kernel module, but I was using the fglrx Xorg module. In Slackware 11 Xorg refuses to use the fglrx Xorg module, regardless of whether I try the kernel module or not. I've attached my xorg.conf file and the Xorg.0.log file that is generated when I try to use the fglrx module. The xorg.conf file gets me a functional single screen at 1400x1050 when the vesa-based server layout is uncommented. I really want to get back my dual display and native resolutions though. Any help would be appreciated. ~Bradley
