If you judge the article by the yardstick of the kind of evidence used in a courtroom, you're misunderstanding what you're looking at . . . . The article summarizes the technical evidence as "tracing control of email and social media accounts and a tool for remote internet connections" and specifies bits of what this means. This all; seems quite straightforward to me, with absolutely nothing particularly surprising as to what I'd expect their technological capabilities. Of course, I'd be open to hearing something from a technical expert in the field explain how it was. Still, we'll find out soon enough.
