Programmer/Systems Analyst

Hours: Full time position working Monday through Friday

Position:

Reports to the director of systems and is responsible for providing programming 
support as needed for the development of new and existing digital projects, as 
well as for the development of new functionality and features of The 
Collection's website and online catalog.

The programmer/systems analyst will assist the digital assets manager in the 
design and implementation of digital asset repository technologies for digital 
preservation as well as the development of integrated digital exhibits on the 
institution's website.  The successful candidate will work with the manager of 
internet & interactive development to implement new functionalities into The 
Collection's website.  The position is responsible for researching, testing, 
making recommendations, designing and helping develop software solutions for 
The Collection's collection management system, (MINT by MINISIS Inc.), digital 
preservation and institutional repositories, and web-based digital programs.

The programmer/systems analyst will also work with staff to identify and 
implement software solutions for in-house workflow and efficiency enhancements, 
as well as software solutions for delivering The Collection's holdings to 
visiting researchers and via the internet.  As a member of the systems 
department, the programmer/systems analyst is expected to assist the network 
manager with general server and PC maintenance and roll out and other systems 
department duties and functions as required.

Qualifications:

*       Bachelor's degree in computer science preferred but equivalent 
combination of education and experience acceptable.
*       Two or more years of programming and testing experience.
*       Working knowledge and experience with the major programming languages, 
including Java, XML, PHP and SQL.
*       Experience with MySQL required; experience with UNIX, LINUX and Apache 
a plus.
*       Working knowledge of Windows Server Technologies and experience with 
Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
*       Knowledge of and experience with CSS, XSLT, JavaScript and HTML5.
*       Experience working with relational databases and knowledge of museum, 
library and information sciences preferred.
