In mutt?  But why?  This sounds like you want
to save mutt-users from themselves.

But I'm not sure I understand *why* someone should just
"trust you on this"?

"Because I say so" ??  What's wrong with being able to
set the envelope (*not* as the default) on the fly as
an edit-headers setting from within mutt/vim, instead
of having to do it via Sendmail on the command-line?

And perhaps with a warning not to make it settable
unless you know what you're doing?  The more I think
about it, the more it seems very un-muttlike not to
have it available this way.
