Judge Robert Kopstein fined Wallace Hudson two cents Wednesday after he pleaded guilty to two counts of breach of probation. The order shocked people in the courtroom at the time. "I was stunned," said a lawyer, who asked not to be named. Defence attorney Greg Brodsky, who's been practising criminal law since 1959, has never heard of such a modest penalty. He speculated the judge was sending a message to the Crown. "If you get a two-cent fine, you have to be careful about what kind of cases you prosecute," Brodsky said. Hudson is in custody on charges he is an alleged member of the Manitoba Warriors outlaw street gang. But 18 charges of breach of probation were laid after his girlfriend, whom he's been ordered to stay away from, repeatedly visited him in the facility. Court was told the facility's staff knew of the non-contact order. Hudson pleaded out on two counts. Kopstein also waived costs and surcharge usually applied to fines. A spokeswoman for Manitoba Justice said the Crown's office had no comment at this time. "Let Us Consider The Human Brain As A Very Complex Photographic Plate" 1957 G.H.
