Seriously. This is the most irritating aspect of this otherwise great program.
I keep removing it, and it keeps coming back when I re-install. I don't know
why the developer can't just use default font settings (consistently sized
monospace)
that actually make sense for the majority of Notepad++ users (coders), and leave
the crappy cartoon fonts for the small number of people who actually want them
(if such people actually exist).

I'll try the stylers.xml trick

I went through C:\Program Files\Notepad++\stylers.xml and changed all

fontName="Comic Sans MS" --> fontName=""

fontSize="." and fontSize=".." --> fontSize=""

But my fonts still look dumb. What else do I need to do?

I should add that this print problem first appeared in V4.0x;
V3.9, and earlier, are fine. 4.0.1 and 4.0.2 both crash on File.PrintNow,
but are ok on Icon.PrintNow

I think that the 'Files of type' drop-down menu in Open dialogue are
"hardcoded",
but you can very easyly resemble the behaviour of this option by writing *.css,
*.js or *waterver_you*.want in the 'File name' field and when you hit Enter
the files in the directory will be filered according to your pattern.

Regards,
Rocky

That's a good question.

Because the Windows PRINT dialog pops up, before the crash, and this seems
rare,
I just tried some other printer choices.

Print to HP1220C = fails.
Print to AppleLaserwriter, redirected to file (Postscript capture) = OK
Print to PrimoPDF, to file, = OK
Print to AutoDesk DWF, to file = OK

So, it seems related to the NP++ V4.0+, calling of the HP1220C printer driver,
and only from the File.Print pathway (as ^P, PrintNow Icons are OK )
-ie the crash may be in the HP driver, but triggered by something NP++ feeds
it ?

What's different between a Print Icon[OK], and the File.Print [fails] calls ?

Hi,

I use what you'd asked for.

You need Function List plugin. The idea is to define blocks of text as function
and body. You can do that in two steps,

First create a user defined language under View >> User Define Dialog. I've
created one for txt entension and named it TxT.

Restart Notepad++ to refresh Function List plugin. Go to Plugins >> Function
List >> User Rules.  Select your language (e.g. TxT) in the Language dropdown;
click Edit Rule.

Decide on some charater or characters to define your function start and body
end; I use back-quotes (i seldom use this character) and double back-quotes
respectivley. My rule looks like this:

Function begin: `
Function list name: .*$ (this will list all characters till end of line as
function name in Function list window; serves to name the outlined text block).
Body end: ``

And that's it. Any text file will have folding block for texts between ` and
``.

This will not work with new files; cannot associate under defined language as
default file type - yet.

Hope this helps,
Sivam

I just downloaded npp.v4.0.2.RC.zip and unzipped to a folder.
I have Win2000 with current service packs and patches. I only have Fineprint
2000 and FinePrint pdfFactory Pro as the printer drivers.

File...Print works fine
File...Print Now! works fine
Print Icon works fine

I just downloaded N++ and I noticed that there's no immediately obvious way
to tell at a glance if an open file has been changed since the last time it
had been saved. Is there something I'm missing? I've been using SciTE until
now, and it has this convenient feature.

Never mind, I figured it out: the disk icon changes color. Somebody shoot me.

Is there a way to change the colors? I'd like to make it a bit brighter and
more noticeable.

I was wondering if there was a way to make N++ wrap lines based on the size
of the window. I realize you can use TextFX to make lines wrap at specific
lengths,
but if they could just wrap based on the size of the window that would be really
spectacular.

Thanks!
