Greetings: This is the Syracuse Rare Bird Alert for the week of December 28, 
2015.
Highlights--------------

Montezuma National Wildlife Complex (MNWC) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex 
(MWC)------------
     1/2: 3 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were seen at the Wilgoose field on 
Rt.89. 2 SHORT-EARED OWLS and a CACKLING GOOSE were seen from East Road.3 
LAPLAND LONGSPURS were seen in the mucklands along Rt. 31.

Onondaga County------------
     1/2: 2 FISH CROWS were seen in Liverpool.     1/3: A MERLIN was seen on 
coon Hill Road north of Skaneateles.     1/4: A LAPLAND LONGSPUR was found on 
Gulf Road south of Manlius.

Oswego county------------
     12/30: A MERLIN was seen at Oswego Harbor.     1/2: A CACKLING GOOSE was 
seen from Bush Road on Oneida Lake     1/3: An ICELAND GULL and a late 
BLACK-LEGGED KITTYWAKE were seen from the overlook at Derby Hill.

Madison county------------
     12/29: 2 ICELAND GULLS were found at the Madison County landfill.     1/2: 
An ICELAND GULL, a GLAUCOUS GULL and a LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL were all found 
at the Madison County landfill.

Oneida county------------
     12/29: A GLAUCOUS GULL was seen at Sylvan Beach.     1/1: A SHORT-EARED 
OWL was found on the Oneida Christmas Count. No specific location was given.    
 1/3: A LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was seen on Oneida Lake from Lewis Point. An 
ICELAND GULL was seen where Oneida Creek enters Oneida Lake.     1/4: A GRAY 
CATBIRD was seen at Spring Farm Nature Sanctuary.

Herkimer county------------
     12/29: 3 EVENING GROSBEAKS were soon on Cole Road north of Little Falls.
